Stormont Leads UMD All-Region Selections

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) junior forward Maureen Stormont has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) all-Central Region first team, it was announced on Wednesday morning.

In her third season with UMD, Stormont had her most productive season as she set a new program record with 18 goals and 43 points to help propel herself to fourth all-time on the school's scoring list.

Two other Bulldogs were given all-region honors on Wednesday, with senior forward Dani Potter being named to the second team and junior defender Riley Allen being named to the third team.

Potter had a very productive season working with Stormont on the offensive end, finishing with 12 goals and 32 points on the season. She led the team with eight assists and also collected six game-winning goals.

Allen, meanwhile, was a leader of UMD's defensive unit that allowed just 10.3 shots per game and also added three goals and two assists.

The Bulldogs posted an overall record of (17-5-1) this year and saw the season come to a close in the NCAA Division II quarterfinals.
