Sunny Skies Greet UMD at Annual Spring Game

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- After a spring season riddled with snow and colder-than-usual weather, sunny skies greeted the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) football team on Friday evening for its 39th annual Maroon-White scrimmage.

The white team edged the maroon squad by a 10-7 score, that in front of more than 1,200 fans at Malosky Stadium on the UMD campus.

Aaron Roth scored the first touchdown of the game, that a seven-yard run coming in the second quarter for the white team. The maroon team answered in the third quarter when Drew Bauer threw a 17-yard scoring pass to Beau Bofferding.

The game also acted as a fundraiser for UMD defensive end Jordan Bauman, who has been declared cancer-free after battling Stage II Hodgkin's Lymphoma for a second time.

The players wore purple tape and fans were encouraged to wear purple, which is the color associated with awareness of Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

The Bulldogs will have three more practices this spring, that after bad weather forced postponement earlier in the month.
