Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth East senior offensive lineman Nate Atkinson and Cook County senior defensive back Kale Boomer are the lone Northlanders to sign official papers on Wednesday to play football at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD).
Atkinson was one of 21 high school players to sign a national letter of intent to play with the Bulldogs, while Boomer was one of four to sign a letter of acceptance.
The 2013 recruiting class for UMD stands at 25 after Wednesday, with 17 comings from Minnesota and five from Wisconsin to go along with one apiece from Illinois, South Dakota, and Washington.
"We are excited about the quality of this class – both from an athletic and academic standpoint," UMD head coach Curt Wiese said. "I think our coaching staff did a tremendous job in identifying and addressing our future needs on offense, defense and special teams. Improving our athleticism and our overall depth were two of our main focuses and I feel we were successful in that regard."
Below are listed all the 2013 recruits to the UMD football program, with their respective high school listed in parentheses. They will join a program that posted a (10-2) overall record a year ago and qualified for a fifth consecutive NCAA Division II tournament.
