UMD Claims First NSIC Softball Title Since 2003

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- With a pair of wins on Sunday, the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) softball team has laid claim to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) championship for the first time since 2003.

The Bulldogs will share the 2013 regular season title with Minnesota State University-Mankato, marking the school's 14th conference title in 25 years of NSIC membership.

UMD owns a conference record of (19-5) this season, with those 19 wins setting a new program record. The Bulldogs are (39-11) overall and boast an incredible mark of (27-2) when playing indoors.

The next challenge for the Bulldogs will be the NSIC tournament, with play set to start May 2 in Rochester, Minn.
