Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) women's hockey team saw a 1-0 first period lead disappear on Friday afternoon, falling 4-2 to Ohio State in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) playoffs at AMSOIL Arena.

The team's regular goaltender, Kayla Black, couldn't even dress for the game because of an injury, with Karissa Grapp instead making her second-ever collegiate start and making 19 saves.

Brigette Lacquette had a goal and an assist for UMD in the losing effort, with the Bulldogs' other tally coming from Vanessa Thibault.

The second game of the best-of-three series is set for 2:07 p.m. on March 2 at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minn.
