Toronto, Ontario (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth, Minn. native and University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) sophomore is joining UMD junior Tony Cameranesi this week at the Toronto Maple Leafs development camp, which reached day three on Wednesday.
Toninato, a fifth round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, is in his second year at the camp while Cameranesi, a fifth round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, is in his third.
Both told LeafsTV on Wednesday afternoon they feel the camp is a great opportunity to play against higher competition than they see in college.
"These camps are very good for everyone here," Toninato said. "We learn a lot. I mean, you meet a lot of new people as well. You want to make a good impression for the guys upstairs and on the ice."
"Always a good test of your abilities coming in here and playing against a lot of good guys," Cameranesi said, "and getting a lot of information from the coaches, the scouts, the trainers, and all that stuff. So it's an informative week as well."
The Toronto development camp started on July 7 and runs through July 11.
