UMD Picked Second in NSIC Coaches' Poll

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) football team has been picked to finish second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), that according to the 2013 preseason coaches' poll that was released on Tuesday.

UMD received two first-place votes in the polling but finished second to Minnesota State University (MSU)-Mankato, with the Mavericks receiving 13 first-place votes.

The Bulldogs were, however, picked to win the NSIC's North Division, which would be the program's sixth straight divisional championship. UMD received six first-place votes in the divisional poll, with St. Cloud State second with two.

UMD posted an overall record of (10-2) in the 2012 season and qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament, but the team is tasked with replacing head coach Bob Nielson and four-year starting quarterback Chase Vogler headed into 2013.
