Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women's soccer team will leave Friday on a 10-day trip that will take them to three countries and see them play at least two international exhibition games.

The Bulldogs will visit Munich, Germany and Salzburg, Austria before then going to several cities in Italy, a preseason vacation of sorts from which head coach Greg Cane expects the players to find enjoyment and education.

"It's obviously memorable and a good time," Cane said. "It's an opportunity to play the game in another place that sees the game differently, obviously, and has a whole different approach to it."

After a magical 2013 season in which UMD reached the NCAA Elite Eight, this international trip serves as kind of a reward for some of the returning players.

"A lot of us have never been abroad, so I think it'll be a good experience just to see new things," senior forward Courtney Driscoll said. "It'll be a great time to kind of relax, have fun, see different things, and play different teams. It'll be definitely a unique experience."

The UMD team will leave on its trip this Friday and return to Duluth on Aug. 19 to start preseason training for the 2014 year.
