UMD Sweeps Concordia, Wins NSIC Championship

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball team swept Concordia-St. Paul in three sets to win the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) championship on Sunday afternoon in St. Paul, Minn.

For the second time in nine days, the Bulldogs beat the Golden Bears, and for the first time since 2002, UMD swept Concordia-St. Paul.

Four different Bulldogs landed on the 2013 NSIC All-Tournament Team led by senior outside hitter Kate Lange, freshman middle blocker Sydnie Muach, sophomore setter Ashley Hinsch, and junior libero Julie Rainey.

Lange led UMD on Sunday with 19 kills and nine digs while Mauch hit .565 with 15 kills. Hinsch racked up 50 assists in the match while Rainey recorded 20 digs.

With the conference championship in hand, the Bulldogs automatically qualify for the NCAA Division II Tournament. The selection show will air on Monday nigh at 6:30 p.m.
