Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey team is (4-0-0) all-time against Western Michigan, but this weekend will mark the first time these programs have met as conference opponents.
The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) series will also be the last games of the 2013 calendar year for the Bulldogs, with coaches and players knowing they could use two wins headed into the holiday break.
"We want six points. We are going to try for two wins," UMD sophomore forward Charlie Sampair said. "We have to get back to some of the little things and make sure we're mentally ready for this series."
"It's important, there's no question," head coach Scott Sandelin said. "We're both in the same position. It should be two teams who are very desperate to get points and certainly wanting to play better hockey to win games."
The weekend series with run Dec. 13-14 at AMSOIL Arena, with the Dec. 13 game set to be broadcast on the My 9 Sports Network with coverage starting at 7:00 p.m.
