Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) sophomore defenseman Brenden Kotyk will skate in his first development camp on Sunday as a part of the Chicago Blackhawks six-day long prospect camp.

Kotyk will be one of 62 prospects at the camp.

Despite not playing in a single game last season for the Bulldogs after transferring from St. Scholastica, the Regina, Saskatchewan native is excited to just get on the ice.

"When I got the call, I was definitely very excited about the opportunity," he said. "It's been one of my goals since the last two years to get invited to a development camp and be at Division I so both of those goals have finally happened. I can't wait to get on the ice."
