Aberdeen, SD (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) junior Chanel Miller won her second straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) outdoor track and field heptathlon championship on Monday, successfully defending her title from a year ago.

Miller finished the seven-event competition with 4,769 points while teammate Amelia Maher turned in a personal-best 4,468 points to finish in fourth place.

Miller's lone win in an individual event came in the javelin throw, but she placed well enough in the other six to earn the overall title. Maher, meanwhile, won the 800-meter run and placed second in the 200-meter dash.
