Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) defenseman Tea Villila has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) defensive player of the week, it was announced on Wednesday.

Villila registered three assists for the Bulldogs in last weekend's road sweep of Ohio State, with those marking her first games back with the Bulldogs after playing for Team Finland at the Four Nations Cup.

The junior defenseman also helped a defensive unit that limited the Buckeyes to just one even-strength goal, finishing with a plus-five rating on the weekend.

UMD is back in action this weekend with a pair of games at home against Bemidji State, with the game Nov. 22 set for a 7:37 p.m. start and the game Nov. 23 set for a 6:07 p.m. start.
