Vandervest Leads Five UMD All-Region Picks

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Senior defensive end Chris Vandervest leads a group of five football players from the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) to be bestowed Don Hansen NCAA Division II all-Super Region 3 honors, it was announced on Friday afternoon.

Vandervest was the lone Bulldogs player to be named to the first team, that after he led the team with five quarterback sacks and 18 tackles for a loss while also ranking second with 55 total tackles.

Senior cornerback Kenny Chowa and senior offensive lineman Grant Schnobrich were each named to the second team, while senior linebacker Colby Ring and junior offensive lineman Andrew Muer were given third team honors.

All first and second team selections will now be placed on the ballot to be a Don Hansen 2013 NCAA Division II All-American, with that team expected to be announced in January.
