St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Wild made a qualifying offer to former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) forward Justin Fontaine on Monday afternoon, meaning he will remain a restricted free agent this summer.

Other teams would now have to offer Minnesota draft picks as compensation if they wanted to sign Fontaine, who was one of five players the Wild made qualifying offers to on Monday.

The former Bulldog totaled 13 goals and eight assists this past regular season for Minnesota, also adding one goal and one assist in nine postseason games.
