Sochi, Russia (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) standout Pernilla Winberg scored late in the third period to bring Sweden within a goal but Russia hung on down the stretch to oust the Swedes 3-1 on Thursday.

Both teams will advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament after winning their first two games. Sweden will face off against Finland while Russia will battle Switzerland.

Anna Prugova racked up for 15 saves for Russia while Valentine Wallner made 27 saves for Team Sweden.
