Seattle, WA (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) offensive lineman Jake Bscherer is now officially a member of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks, that after he put pen to paper on Tuesday morning and signed his free agent contract.
Bscherer first had to pass a team physical before signing the deal, but he is now with the team for this week's offseason organized training activities (OTAs).
The Sturgeon Bay, Wis. native agreed to the deal with Seattle last week, that after he attended the team's rookie camp earlier this month. He told NNCNOW.com he was surprised by the team's call, mainly because he thought the window in which teams would sign him had passed.
Bscherer spent just one season with the Bulldogs, that being his senior year in 2012. He played left tackle and was selected to the all-Nothern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) first team after helping UMD become the third-highest scoring offense in all of NCAA Division II football.
Details of the contract were not disclosed by the Seahawks, and Bscherer did not immediately return a phone call.
