Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A 3-0 loss on Saturday afternoon sealed the fate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) women's hockey team, with the Bulldogs being eliminated for the first time ever in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) playoffs.
Tina Hollowell, Minttu Tuominen, and Hokey Langan all scored for Ohio State in the winning effort, with Chelsea Knapp making 21 saves to earn the shutout for the Buckeyes.
UMD ends the season with a record of (14-16-4), marking the first time in program history the team has finished with a winning percentage below .500.
The Bulldogs will say goodbye to senior players Katie Wilson, Audrey Cournoyer, Vanessa Thibault, Jessica Wong, and Pernilla Winberg, all of whom played a role on UMD's 2010 NCAA championship team when they were freshmen.
