Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) men's and women's hockey teams collectively raised more than $14,000 this past Saturday for the Essentia Health Breast Program Fund to help fight breast cancer.
Both teams wore special pink uniforms in Saturday's home contests, with the jerseys then auctioned off after the games at AMSOIL Arena.
The men's team raised $8,375 and the women's team raised $5,850, coming to a grand total of $14,225 raised for breast cancer research.
The winners of the jersey auction were able to meet the players after the game and have their jersey personally autographed by the player who wore it during Saturday's game.
This marks the second annual "Pink Game" for the UMD men's and women's hockey programs, with the event raising nearly $25,000 in the 2011-12 season.
