Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- After nearly a two-year hiatus from the Northland, the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) softball team made their home debut with a 4-1 win over No. 13 Augustana on Friday at Malosky Stadium.

The Bulldogs also became the first non-football, soccer, or track team to play at Malosky in its 48-year history. Cherry, Minn. native Angel Dahl knotted the first ever-run with a solo home run in the third.

Cayli Sadler allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking out eight on the mound for UMD. She also added a two-run double in the third to put the Bulldogs ahead 4-1.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Bulldogs couldn't keep pace with the Vikings as they fell 9-2. Sadler lasted just two innings while Sam Hartmann finished the game, giving up 5 runs on 10 hits.

UMD will continue their homestand with a two-game set against Wayne State College on Saturday.
