Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Despite winning the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) regular season title for the first time since 2003, the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) softball team is not among the 64-team field for the 2013 NCAA Division II tournament.

The Bulldogs were (41-13) overall this season, with those 41 wins marking the second-most in the program's history. UMD had been to three straight NCAA tournaments, with 2009 being the last time the team had missed being selected.

The 64-team field includes three teams from the NSIC, including Winona State and Minot State, with each of those teams finishing below UMD in the regular season conference standings. Minnesota State University-Mankato, which won a share of the title with UMD, was the third team selected.

UMD will lose four seniors off this year's roster, including Duluth, Minn. native Tyra Kerr and single-season home run and RBI record holder Kierra Jeffers. The other two players lost to graduation are Julia Nealer and Michaela Goris.
