'Dogs Picked Sixth in NSIC Coaches' Poll

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) women's basketball team has been picked to finish sixth in this year's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) preseason coaches' poll, which was released on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs finished the 2012-13 season with an overall record of (14-13), and they return three starting players from the squad.

Barnum, Minn. native Katrina Newman will lead that group of returners as she enters her senior season. Named this year as the NSIC North Division preseason player of the year, she led the team last season in averaging 15.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
