Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team was in full pads on Wednesday morning for the first time in the 2014 season, and head coach Curt Wiese was encouraged by the energy of his guys.

"Our seniors have risen to the occasion," Wiese said. "They've done a really good job leading our football team. Overall, I'm happy with the tempo. I'm happy with the leadership. I'm just pleased with the overall practice atmosphere to this point."

UMD opens the 2014 regular season at home on Sept. 6 against Concordia-St. Paul.
