Ex-Bulldog Fontaine Survives Wild Cuts

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) forward Justin Fontaine is one of 28 players still with the Minnesota Wild, that as the team continues to prepare for the regular season opener on Oct. 3.

The news came on Tuesday that Fontaine was one of several young player to survive the latest rounds of cuts, meaning he's one step closer to making the Wild roster to start the season.

Fontaine played for Houston of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, finishing with 23 goals and 33 assists to lead the team with 56 points.

Minnesota has two preseason games remaining, on Sept. 25 and Sept. 27, before opening the regular season on at home Oct. 3 against Los Angeles.
