Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) defenseman Drew Olson has signed to play for Lillehammer in the GET-League, the top professional league in Norway, it was announced recently.
"We are pleased to bring in a back type that has its strength in a duel game and it will give our team more toughness," Lillehammer head coach Tor Nilsen said. "Drew is also very good at skating and can primarily be regarded as a defensive strong player."
Olson spent this past winter with Syracuse of the American Hockey League (AHL), totaling three goals and one assist in 47 games played for Tampa Bay's minor league affiliate.
In his four seasons with UMD, Olson amassed three goals and 21 points across 147 games played and was part of the program's first-ever NCAA Division I championship in the 2010-11 season.
