Toronto, Ontario (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) forward Mason Raymond has signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team announced on Monday afternoon.
The 28-year-old Raymond was previously on a professional tryout contract with Toronto, but his play in training camp and preseason games warranted a roster spot.
"Based on Mason's play in the preseason, we feel he fits in well with our group and will have a significant role on our team," Toronto general manager David Nonis said. "We agreed to terms over the weekend and look forward to him making a strong contribution this season."
The former Bulldog has played 374 career regular season NHL games, all with the Vancouver Canucks, and totaled 80 goals and 98 assists.
In his two seasons at UMD, Raymond appeared in 79 games and finished his collegiate career with 25 goals and 49 assists.
