Ex-'Dog Vafina Scores Game-Winning Goal

Sochi, Russia (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) standout Aleksandra Vafina scored the game-winning goal for Russia on Tuesday in their 2-1 win over Japan at Shayba Arena in the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

The win helped the Russians clinch a spot in the Olympic quarterfinals. They'll face Sweden and former UMD goalie Kim Martin, Jenni Asserholt, and Pernilla Winberg.
