Former Bulldog Brown to Start Year in AHL

Tampa Bay, FL (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) forward J.T. Brown will start the season in the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced on Sunday by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Brown was among the final cuts made by the Lightning coaching staff, meaning he will report to the Syracuse Crunch for the start of the 2013-14 season.

The 23-year-old spent all of last season with Syracuse, finishing with 10 goals and 18 assists in 51 games played. He made his NHL debut at the end of the 2011-12 season, playing in five games with Tampa Bay and recording one assist.

Brown spent two seasons with UMD, totaling 40 goals and 44 assists while also helping the Bulldogs as a freshman to the 2011 NCAA Division I championship.
