Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football was crowned the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) champs after Minnesota State Mankato forfeited their 11 wins due to an NCAA violation on Friday.

The NSIC Board of Directors announced on Friday they denied the Mavericks appeal of an earlier decision that nullified their 2012 overall and south division championships.

Instead of finishing first that season, Minnesota State will finish fourth overall and second in the south division.

The Bulldogs finished the season at (10-1) and are now the regular season champs from the 2012 year.
