No. 2 UMD Loses its First Home Match of 2013

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The No. 2 University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball team lost its first home match of the 2013 season on Saturday afternoon 3-1 against Northern State University at Romano Gymnasium.

The Wolves won for the fifth straight time and beat a ranked opponent in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) for their second time during that streak.

Northern State held UMD to a .165 kill percentage. Senior outside Kate Lange racked up 20 kills and sits 41 behind Vicky Braegelman for most in Bulldog history.

Junior outside hitter Maddy Sirion added nine kills for the Bulldogs. Four players for Northern State had at least 10 kills.

UMD (15-3) resume action on the road Tuesday against St. Cloud State at 7:00 p.m.
