Winona, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) freshman Sam Rivard came away with the 5,000m title while Chanel Miller reigned as champion in the heptathlon at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships (NSIC) on Saturday.

For the second time in as many days, Rivard won a conference title after finishing first in the 5,000m with a time of 17:00.39. She became the first two-event NSIC outdoor titleholder since 2010 for the Bulldogs. She also placed third in the 1,500m run.

For the second year in a row, Miller won the heptathlon and accumulated a league-high 28 points (Rivard had 27).

Despite 18 personal bests, the Bulldogs finished as runners-up (127.83 points) to three-time champion University of Mary (169.33 points).
