Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- 19-year-old Blake Young has verbally committed to play his college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) starting in the 2014-15 season, his junior team announced via press release on Friday.

Young is currently playing for the Battlesford North Stars in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), where he totaled eight goals and 12 assists last season in 52 games.

“Young has blossomed into one of the premier power forwards in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League," head coach Kevin Hasselberg said. "His effort in the classroom and on the ice has earned him this tremendous opportunity to play for one of the top hockey programs in the NCAA."
