Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's baseball team has signed two players to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday while three others have signed letters of acceptance, bringing the UMD freshmen class to nine.
The Bulldogs added Alex Ferguson (Woodstock, Ill.), Marcus Fredrickson (Eagan, Minn.), Justin Kunkel (Kimball, Minn.), Tate Lange (Stewart, Minn.), and Nick Pederson (Eau Claire, Wisc.).
Ferguson, a shortstop and pitcher, has started each of the past three seasons for Woodstock High School. He was named Second Team All-Area last season and was an All-Fox Valley Conference selection.
Fredrickson, a pitcher and outfielder, started the past three years at Eastview High School and led the Lightning to a Minnesota Class AAA State championship in 2012. He was named All-South Suburban Conference last year as the team's Pitcher of the Year.
Kunkel, an infielder and pitcher, has started the past two years at St. Cloud ROCORI High School who finished second in the MSHSL tournament.
Lange, an infielder and pitcher, started the past four years at Buffalo Lakes-Hector Stewart High School. In 2011, he was named the team's Rookie of the Year and earned All-Conference honors as a junior.
Pederson, an infielder and pitcher, started three seasons at Eau Claire Memorial High School, helping lead the Old Abes to an All-Rivers Conference championship ion 2012.
