Ann Arbor, MI (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey commit Joey Anderson has been officially named to the United States Under-17 team for the 2014-15 season, it was announced on Wednesday morning.

The Roseville, Minn. native had already committed to playing for the team this past April, but the official announcement wasn't made until Wednesday.

Anderson played this past winter for Hill-Murray, totaling 21 goals and 29 assists in 25 games for the Pioneers. He led the team in goals, assists, points, and short-handed goals throughout the season.

The Under-17 team will start its 2014-15 season Sept. 6 with an exhibition game before starting a 35-game schedule against United States Hockey League (USHL) opponents on Sept. 26.

The team will also compete internationally at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the 2014 Four Nations Tournament, and the 2015 Five Nations Tournament.
