UMD Jumps to #6 in AVCA Poll After (4-0) Start

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball team jumped one spot to sixth in this week's American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Division II top 25 poll, it was announced on Monday.

The Bulldogs started the 2012 season with four victories over the weekend, winning the championship at the 2012 Days Inn Bulldog Invitational in Kirksville, Mo.

Hibbing native and UMD junior outside hitter Kate Lange joined UMD senior middle blocker Kalli Lochner on the all-tournament team, that after combining for 114 kills and 23 blocks in the team's four matches.

Junior Kate Lange and senior middle blocker Kalli Lochner were named to the Days Inn Bulldog Invitational All-Tournament Team, announced Sunday. The tandem combined for well over 100 kills and 23 total blocks during the two-day tournament, hosted by Truman State University.

The full results of this week's AVCA poll can be viewed at the American Volleyball Coaches' Association web site.

The Bulldogs open the home portion of the 2012 schedule on Tuesday night, hosting Northern Michigan for a 7:00 p.m. match at Romano Gymnasium.
