Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) women's soccer team will host another weekend of NCAA tournament play starting on Friday when the Bulldogs look to avenge an earlier season loss of their own.
UMD knocked off Winona State 1-0 on Sunday to advance to the team's first ever Central Region final. But to continue their run, the Bulldogs will have to get past Southwest Minnesota State, a team that beat them 3-0 earlier this season.
Head coach Greg Cane, who's team is deeper into the national tournament than any other squad in program history, said his team welcomes the chance to again face the Mustangs.
"This has been special for me because when you're at one place for a long time and it's your body of work, you want to try and see what the limit is," Cane said. "Obviously, we haven't reached our limit yet. We've been in the tournament before, and now this group is taking it another step."
Friday's Central Region final between UMD and Southwest Minnesota State is set for a 1:00 p.m. start at Malosky Stadium.
