Mankato, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) junior Amelia Maher was crowned indoor pentathlon champion on Sunday at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) championships, just edging out runner-up and teammate Chanel Miller.
Maher finished the five-event competition with a final score of 3,605 points to beat out Miller's total of 3,486, denying Miller back-to-back titles in this particular event.
Maher, a native of Sauk Center, Minn., tied for first in the high jump (1.66 meters), was second in the 800-meter run (2.22.44), and was third in the long jump (5.26 meters).
Miller, meanwhile, won the long jump (5.32 meters) and tied for third in the high jump (1.57 meters).
