Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- For the first time in program history, the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) volleyball team held a grass volleyball fundraiser on Saturday, just two days ahead of the team's first official practice.
There were 21 teams in action on Saturday to help raise money to support Bulldog volleyball.
WIth nine courts set up next to Malosky Stadium, head coach Jim Boos admits playing on grass can be much more difficult. While he played his fair share in the tournament, Boos said he'll stick to coaching for now.
"For me, not so much fun," said Boos. "I'm at that age now where I'm just fine sitting on the sidelines coaching and yelling at people. Christyn still plays a ton, and it's neat to see as many people as we are playing, and we're really appreciative of them all showing up."
