Birmingham, AL (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) sophomore Chanel Miller placed sixth on Saturday in the pentathlon at the NCAA Division II indoor track and field championships in Birminham, Ala., earning All-American status in the process.
Miller finished with 3,606 points in the event, just under 300 points off the total of the pace of Central Missouri junior Erin Alewine.
She took fifth out of 16 entrants in the 60-meter hurdles, sixth in the long jump, seventh in the 800-meter run, ninth in the shot put and 14th in the high jump.
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) field athlete of the year, Miller was making her first-ever appearance at the NCAA championships. She also competed in the long jump, placing 14th in that event on Friday afternoon.
