Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) sophomore Chanel Miller had two pieces of good news come her way Tuesday --- she was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) outdoor women's field athlete of the year and she qualified for the NCAA Division II outdoor championships.

Miller adds the NSIC outdoor athlete of the year honors to her indoor accolades from earlier this season, that after she won the conference outdoor heptathlon title in late April.

The Bulldogs sophomore scored a school-record 4,886 points in winning the outdoor title, adding that to her NSIC indoor pentathlon title from earlier this season.

Miller will now try to better that at the NCAA Division II outdoor championships, which will be held May 23-25 at the DeRose Thunderbowl in Pueblo, Colo.
