Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Barnum, Minn. native and University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) senior forward Katrina Newman has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) women's basketball player of the week, it was announced on Monday.

Newman averaged 20.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game this past weekend, including a 25-point, 17-rebound performance in a Saturday night win over Minnesota-Crookston.

The games were the last in Romano Gymnasium for the former Bombers star, who will now lead the Bulldogs into the NSIC tournament. UMD's first-round game is set for Feb. 26 on the road against Concordia-St. Paul.
