Allendale, MI (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) freshman Samantha Rivard finished in 10th place on Thursday night in the 10,000-meters at the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championships in Allendale, Mich.

Rivard was in the middle of the pack throughout much of the first half of the race but trailed off near the end, eventually finishing in a time of 35:42.16 to narrowly miss out on All-American status.

The freshman will now turn her focus to Saturday's 5,000-meter final, an event in which she enters with the nation's second-best time this outdoor season.
