UMD's Rivard Wins NSIC 10,000m Title

Winona, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) freshman Samantha Rivard won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) outdoor 10,000-meter championship on Friday afternoon, running a time nearly nine seconds faster than her nearest competitor.

Rivard finished the race in 35:50.74 and with a comfortable lead over runner-up Meritxell Delga Do of Augustana, who ran a time of 35:59.31.

Rivard was the lone Bulldog to win a conference title on Friday, but the NSIC outdoor track and field championships continue with day two on Saturday.
