Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) freshman defenseman Lara Stalder was the center of attention on Wednesday afternoon at Kirby Plaza on campus --- maybe part of that was the Olympic bronze medal she had hanging around her neck.
Stalder was giving her fellow students a chance to see the medal, touch it, and take pictures with her following her return from Sochi and the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
"Normally I walk through the hallways and no one knows me, but now everyone wants to take a picture," Stalder said. "It's amazing. I don't believe it yet. It's a little girl's dream that came true."
It was Stalder's first-ever Olympic appearance for Switzerland, and she was joined on the bronze-medal winning team by St. Scholastica junior forward Nina Waidacher.
