Former Greyhound Kerr Earns NSIC Honors

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- UMD junior and Duluth native Tyra Kerr has been named as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) player of the week, it was announced on Tuesday.

Kerr, a former Duluth East Greyhounds, hit 16-of-22 this past week to help the Bulldogs to a (5-1) record, with all games coming against NSIC opponents/

She hit three doubles and drove in seven runs during that stretch, compiling an .864 slugging percentage for UMD.

Kerr already has 83 hits this season for the Bulldogs, six more than the previous school single-season record, which had stood for 24 years.

UMD opens play in the NSIC postseason tournament this Thursday, with an 11:00 a.m. against the University of Mary in Rochester.
