Pueblo, CO (Northland's NewsCenter) --- UMD senior runner Lexi Williams won the Division II NCAA national championship on Saturday night, finishing the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 11.46 seconds.

Williams edged second-place finisher Jaylen Rodger by just .14 seconds, becoming just the second UMD woman to ever win an individual NCAA national title.

The Rice Lake native was making her first-ever appearance in the Division II NCAA outdoor track and field championships and finished eighth among 19 runners in the preliminary round.
