San Jose, CA (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former UMD Bulldogs forward Mike Connolly has been assigned to the AHL club of the San Jose Sharks, one year after helping UMD to its first-ever NCAA national championship.
Connolly left UMD after his junior season to sign an NHL free agent contract with the Sharks, hoping to make the team's roster for the regular season opener.
He played in 123 games during his three years with the Bulldogs, racking up 136 points, and was named an NCAA All-American after his junior season.
Former UMD goaltender Alex Stalock is still with the San Jose Sharks organization, but will not be ready to practice until mid-2012 after suffering a knee injury last season.
