Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth, Minn. native Melissa Hanson has resigned her post as head women's soccer coach at the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS), the school announced on Monday morning.

"We are very appreciative of the time and effort that Melissa put into the women's soccer program at UW-Superior," athletic director Steve Nelson said. "She is an alumna, one of our own. She has been a part of this university for a long time and we hate to lose her as a member of our coaching family."

Hanson spent six seasons with the Yellowjackets and posted an overall record of (29-68-3). She is leaving to take a teaching job in the Amery School District, where she will also coach middle school basketball.

A search for her replacement is underway.
