Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Hundreds gathered at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday to celebrate the life of Duluth native and UW-Superior legend Steve Anderson, who passed away May 11 at the age of 59.
Anderson was an All-American hockey player during his time as a Yellowjacket, having also captained that team to the 1976 NAIA championship.
Following that 1976 season, Anderson was named the most outstanding athlete at UW-Superior and in 2004 was inducted to school's athletic Hall of Fame.
The 1971 Duluth Denfeld graduate also served as captain of the baseball and golf teams at UW-Superior, and since graduation he had served as the golf professional at four area courses.
Anderson also coached several years at area high schools and universities, including UW-Superior and UMD.
