Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The UW-Superior women's soccer team is expected to finish ninth in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) this upcoming season, that according to a preseason poll of the conference's sports information directors.

The Yellowjackets return seven starters from a team last year that finished with an (8-11) overall record. Those eight wins in the 2011 season were the most for the women's program since 2006.

One of the most important returners will be Hermantown native Chlesea Cossin, who finished 2011 with 15 goals and three assists.

UW-Superior will open play in the 2012 year on August 31 against St. Catherine, with that game scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Public Schools Stadium in Duluth.
